About the event
Take to the Cornish coast for a retreat of knitting, where knitting intertwines with the essence of exploration. Delve into immersive workshops, a farm visit, learn more about natural fibre and traditional Cornish knitting. Embark in brisk autumnal strolls along the shoreline, and indulge in the embrace of the sea with perhaps a cold water dip. Join fellow crafters in a community bound by creativity and camaraderie.
Our goal is to create a fun, creative, fulfilling and inclusive space for knitters and crafters to enjoy. This is a reatreat for people who want to spend time enjoying their craft but also want to get outside and explore. We expect you to join us on a hike of about 5km, to visit farmland and countryside and maybe even a sea swim! There will be plenty of time to sit and knit but we are also going to be getting up and active.

With a 3 Night Stay in a Country House with Food & Beverage, Goodie Bag, Workshops & Farm Visit? How is this sounding so far ?
Well this could be right for you!
Inclusivity is one of our core values. As members of the LGBTQ+ Community Anton & Jonathan want to welcome all adult men, women, trans and non-binary knitters. We are creating a retreat and space for those that wish to get out and explore, bring your knitting and learn more about farm to fibre.
Fancy taking a cool winter dip in the Cornish sea? We will delve into immersive workshops, farm visits and learn about natural fibre and traditional Cornish knitting. We will embark on brisk winter strolls along a coastal path in the company of like minded people, returning back to the house for a cup of tea and a wood fire.
If you think this sounds like a retreat for you then we look forward to welcoming you this November.
What is included?
As part of the retreat there will be a workshop discovering the traditions of Cornish heritage knitting and patterns as well as farm visits, walks, dinner, drinks and other workshops. For a list of FAQ’s click the link below or visit the retreats page on our website.
How active is the retreat?
We will be getting up and active as well as having plenty of down time for working on your own personal projects around the workshops. But this is “a knitting retreat like no other” after all which means lots of knitting as well as strapping on your hiking boots and hitting the muddy trails around a stately home! Though these actives are optional we would like to encourage a group of like minded people who are keen to take part in the whole experience. So please do ask yourself if this is the right retreat for you and we are always here to answer any questions you might have before booking your ticket.
What will our schedule be?
Day 1 Thursday - Arrival & Welcome
Today will be quite relaxed as we all arrive at Bosveal house and get settled in. We will get to know each other over Dinner served at the House and spend the evening doing some relaxed knitting before a good night’s rest to prepare for the days ahead!
Day 2 Friday - Farm
We will start the day with breakfast after which we will ferry the group to Trewithick Farm where Anton and Steve the Salty Surfing Shepherd will introduce you to the farm and their beautiful sheep. You’ll learn what it takes to raise and rear the sheep that supply us with the precious yarn we love to knit!
Following this we will walk about 45 minutes into the nearby town of Porthleven for a Traditional Pub lunch at the Ship Inn.
We will then make our way back to Bosveal House, where Jonathan will host an afternoon workshop.
In the early evening we will have a Happy Hour before dinner which will have a themed cocktail or mocktail!
Dinner will be served at the House after which you will be able to relax and knit into the evening.
Day 3 - Saturday Hike
Get your waterproofs ready because this morning we’re heading on our hike through the stunning Cornish Countryside. We will pray for no rain but mud is always present so have a good pair of hiking shoes on!
Bosveal House is located right on a good hiking ring so we will leave and return to the house. Our stay at the House also included access to the National Trust Gardens so we can visit those also for anyone interested.
After lunch at the house Anton will host a workshop about Cornish Knitting, specifically gansey knitting.
In the evening we will have another Happy Hour followed by our final dinner!
Day 4 - Sunday Farewell
Today you will be able to lie in if you so choose or enjoy the gardens and grounds of Bosveal House. Breakfast will be served and we will have time for a few more rows of knitting over coffee and cake before checkout at Midday.
Full detailed itinerary will be sent before the event. Please note this schedule is subject to change and weather dependent!
